New media play metrics
We have increased the number of metrics available in Viostream to report on the overall success of your video content. It is now possible to get a much deeper understanding of video performance, over and above how many times your video content was played.

New metrics include:

Media Loads – how many times a video loads on a web page.
Plays – How many times someone has pressed play and watched your video content.
Play Rate – Play rate is the ratio of times the video is played versus how many times it loads. This percentage helps you to gain insight into the effectiveness of your video content. For example a low play rate tells you your video is appearing regularly on your website, but not attracting people to actually press play.
Average watch time – The average duration a viewer watches your video for.

New media engagement chart
You can now get a more holistic picture of audience engagement with Viostream’s new media engagement chart. You can see more than just ‘drop off points’, you can map engagement over the whole duration of your video. For example, you can see at what point viewers skip forward in your video (scrub), or any points they rewind and watch again. If you use our new chaptering or interactive transcript features you can map the popularity of content to understand what words or sections in your video is really engaging your audience.

Viostream’s new engagement score also gives you a quick-view reference number so you can easily compare engagement across your video content.

New Live reporting dashboard
Viostream’s live reporting dashboard gives you tools to analyse your live stream data to better understand success. You can see how many people are watching at any point in time, as well as maximum concurrent viewers. Average viewer duration and bit-rate help you build a picture of your audience, and you can select specific dates to get time based reporting.

Player reporting
This new addition to Viostream reporting allows you to drill down into data behind individual players to compare success. You can get an overview of the views for that player, and you can go deeper to find out which embed domains are producing the most plays.

Media Compact List View

New media display to save time managing your assets

Managing your media assets is now much easier with the media compact list view. We’ve maximised the number of assets displayed, and added pagination for easier navigation. Plus, the media list remembers where you are, so once you’ve finished editing a media asset, you’re back to where you were, saving a lot of scrolling if you have a large amount of assets.

Video to Text Service

Request caption and transcript files directly from Viostream

Making your video easy for viewers to consume in areas where it isn’t convenient to have sound on, such as public transport or an open plan office, makes your content exponentially more usable, and it’s a key requirement to meet web accessibility guidelines (WCAG).

Viostream’s new video to text service makes it easy to create caption and transcript files for your video content. This service enables a seamless workflow to create professional timed caption and transcript files for your content natively in the Viostream console.

Your captions can be turned on by the viewer in the player, or used in Viostream’s interactive transcript functionality to make the words in your video content searchable.

NB: Credits for the Video to Text Service need to be added to your account to use it, get more info from our team.

Calls To Action

Clickable, in-video calls to action to engage your audience

Viostream’s call to action feature enables you to interact with your audience at any point in your video.

Clickable images or text are placed at moments when you want to engage your audience and prompt them to take an action – directly in the video player.

Viostream’s calls to action functionality is easy to use and and doesn’t require any web development or video production capability. You simply upload the image or enter the text you want to appear in the video, add a link and select the time and position in the video you want it to appear. It’s that easy.

NB: The Calls to Action module needs to be activated for your account to use it, get more info from our team.

Interactive Transcripts

Make your video content searchable

Interactive transcripts make the words in your video searchable, matching a timed transcript file with a visual display and search function. Your audience can easily find what they’re looking for, without watching the whole video. They get an easy visual reference to the entire contents of the video and they can then click on the transcript text to jump to any specific section in the video.

The search function allows your viewers to find any phrases in the video dialogue that contain their search term, and seek directly to those points in the video.

With Viostream Interactive Transcripts, the spoken words in your video become a powerful, searchable information resource.

Chapters

Segment your video into bite size pieces

Add Chapters to your content to make it easy for viewers to find what they’re looking for with in-player navigation buttons that take them straight to the section of the video they’re after.

There’s no need to cut longer videos into individual segments, simply enter a chapter title and time code to your video so viewers can jump straight to that point in the video with the tap of a button.

The design of Chapter buttons can be edited along with the player styling, so you can publish this interactive player seamlessly in your web page, maintaining a consistent look and feel.

When will legacy reporting stop tracking my video content?

Legacy reporting stops on the 31st December. Only new reporting numbers are available after this date.

How do I see my old reporting?

You can click on the “Legacy Reporting” button in the top right corner. This button will be available until February 29.

Why are the new reporting numbers higher?

Play numbers will generally be higher with new reporting. The reason for this is the way Play’s are measured in the new reporting. In legacy reporting, a play would only register once a video has played for ten seconds. We have changed this to register as soon as a viewer clicks on the play button, which means more plays are registered.

Why have we changed the way plays are measured?

The ten second delay was put in place as an industry standard to cater for buffering and lag due to progressive playback technology. New adaptive technology used by Viostream does not require prebuffering and therefore the delay for reporting purposes is no longer required.
